And thus Saddam's WMD's begin to surface. The Winn-Dixie warehouse, thought to long be abandoned in Winnett, Tenn is found to contain the parts to a nuclear reactor with instruction books in Arabic and Farsi.

Naw. I suspect the 19th Arab airjacker was supposed to have carried this on board one of the 9/11 aircraft. Probably the one that was supposed to fly into the cornfield in Penn. Kill the American ability to grow food, you know?

Ok, let's invade Florida now. It'll be really cheap, because lots of service members are already there, only need to pick up their guns, put Jeb Bush in jail so we can judge him and hang him.

Am I the only one who smells the media hype? Or the fact that Marion County, FL needs funding for it's 'Bureau of Radiation Control'?

This package was obtained in an estate sale. Probably from the estate of some old school chemist who made a hobby of collecting samples of various elements in their natural state and their compounds/oxides. Probably a high school chemistry teacher from back in the day.

No crime happening here. Keep moving folks. The deceased was short-sighted by not alerting the executor/executrix of his will that he held radioactive compounds in his collection. (He also probably had reactive metals and energetic compounds... But they just wouldn't make the news.)

So sleep tight, you collector of Uranium, Sodium, and Phosphorus. You have validated the necessity of employing expert dimwits in Marion County, FL who suckle at the taxpayer's teat.

Isn't it just like you stupid liberals to arrest, convict and execute the wrong guy just because you think you know what you're talking about. Jeb Bush is a private citizen now. Or are you into persecution of the innocent for no good reason?

Oh, that's right. That's exactly what the Democrats are about.

Yellowcake is a first step toward enriched uranium, but it's a long way from being weapons-grade. The powder must still be converted into uranium hexafluoride before it can be enriched, the process that makes the sort of uranium used by nuclear power plants and bomb-makers alike. Because UF6 can be easily turned into a gas, it is ideal for enrichment, which must be done in a gaseous state.

Despite all the hubbub over Saddam Hussein's efforts to buy yellowcake, the stuff is by no means a rare commodity. Worldwide production is currently around 64,000 tons per year, and that's sure to rise as Central Asian nations like Kazakhstan begin to expand their uranium-mining industries. (By comparison, about 45,000 tons of tungsten, vital to the steel industry, is produced annually.) The competition has depressed yellowcake prices just a tad in recent months; a pound now costs about $10.90, down a dime from what it was trading for this spring.
