Cooking Club

Here's a quick link overview on what a cooking club is:
Start a Cook Club

I've been giving this a lot of thought lately and really would love to start a Southern Maryland Cooking Club.

There is one Club in DC that meets bi-monthly, but they cook "Light and Healthy" and I say what is a world without butter? Plus I don't want to drive all the way to DC.

Here's my ideas:

We hold a "meeting" once a month (maybe a set day like the second Saturday of each month) in a "rotating" host/hostess home (alternating homes). Open to both adult males and females.

The "rotating" host/hostess responsibility would be to provide, plates, napkins, silverware, beverages and "kitchen space".

Each month all members will have a theme such as "Home Cooked Take-Out", "Death By Chocolate", et. al. we could even possibly plan a "Kids Can Cook" night as well where we opened up to all members children to participate.

Every member would be responsible for preparing at least one theme dish to serve at the host/hostess home. If it needs re-heating, or final moments in the oven that would be done at the host/hostess home, but preparation/cooking would be done mostly at the member's home. Each dish prepared will have enough copies of the recipe made to share with the other members present.

I think this really is a fabulous opportunity to cook, share food, socialize and learn some new dishes. And of course, I'm open to switching ideas around. But I figured as a "strawman" it may be a good starting point. I also realize not everybody's home is big enough to have a lot of people, but I doubt we'd be a huge club. Even so, if you feel your home isn't large enough to take a turn "hosting", I feel positive we could work out an arrangement to share hosting responsibilites with another club member.

Is anybody interested?

This sounds like fun. I am always trying to do new recipes but if my husband has never tasted it before, he refuses to eat it. This way, he can try the dish out without it being the main course.
