Cooking meatballs

I have some homemade meatballs in the freezer. (Okay, they are really deer balls, teeheehee, if it matters). What's the best way to cook them. I was thinking of spaghetti for tomorrow (since it's prob too late tonight). Can I thaw them out and cook them in the crock pot with the sauce? Or do I need to cook the meatballs first? If so, what's the best way? I've tried to do them in the oven but they never turn out right. Thanks for the help.

I usually throw uncooked meatballs right into the sauce and let it cook for about 30 minutes. Frozen should be OK if they are in the crockpot for a few hours on low. I prefer to cook them in the sauce as opposed to frying or something first. Both the meatballs and the sauce pick up extra flavor.

You can do it both ways... throw them in for a time/calorie saver.

That's what I was thinking. They are italian flavored. Might take the crockpot to work tomorrow. It doesn't have automatic shut off (if I don't thaw them out first).

Me? Nothing, :lmao:. My 6 yr old daughter and my sis-n-law made them actually. My sis-n-law can cook her azz off. 99.9% from scratch. She makes awesome thai spring rolls and sushi.. I love it when she comes to visit.

:killingme

Use the entire animal or don't kill it pappy always used to say.

"Course he got the steaks and roast and we got the bone marrow and other icky stuff.

Brown the meatballs first and then throw them in with the sauce.

That's the part I have trouble with. I've tried the oven but they always stick (even with spraying the pan). Cooking too long? Oven too hot? I was hoping to just throw them in the sauce after they thaw out and slow cook for a while.

OLD WISE ONE
I microwave them on a plate for about 5 minutes on high. Then I use tongs to place them in the sauce leaving all the grease on the plate.

Browning is usually done on the stovetop in a pan. Add a tablespoon or so of oil (vegetable or olive) and nothing more than a medium heat. Toss in the balls and brown them evenly. Use a cover to minimize the splash. The balls need to be thawed first.
