Huh?

I think the hounds are actually lovely and so sweet, but they are definitely noisy (of course, the 10 yr old Llhaso that is finally feeling better is a NOISY little something....).

That's what I meant, she is quite vocal!!!!!!!!!!! We weren't aware how expressive they are, she'll actually hold a conversation with you. They are also super smart, and although stubborn, they learn VERY quickly. I'm sold...we'll stick with hounds FOREVER now that we've had her!

Hi everyone. I have a black and tan coonhound mix. She loves to run! She is very smart though, but just can't stay in the yard. She is 1.5 years now and we are going to install an electric fence. Really don't want to, but she runs and doesn't come back. She is full of energy and needs to be outside. She is a rescue from Calvert County Humane Society.

Congratulations on adopting your dog!

Have you talked to other Coonhound owners to see if they even pay attention to electric fences? I know some dogs just see them as a nuisance (sp).

I had an electric wire around my yard off and on for many years and I had a SharPei, she would go through it to get on the other side, between the wire an the actual fence, then sit there and cry till I carried her back over as it hurt to bad to come back....

I thought about that. Nothing seems to phase her. I know it will take a lot of training for her. She is a handful, and not good at listening.

Poor guys...just so ya'll know, this is not my Chevy. He's still safe and sound here with us. He's also very vocal, but not a hound. He's a JR/Bulldog mix.
