Cops in Northern Calvert?

One of the occupants of the civilian car died. Were they coming southbound? That's what was just reported on the news. If they were and were turning into Apple Green on Apple Way, they probably never saw the cops. Cops were heading northbound, assumably at a high rate of speed and coming up a hill. I'm sure the car turning from Route 4 never saw the cop cars and certainly wasn't expecting them.

My husband heard it from a friend who lives in Apple Green that it was an 18 y/o female who was hit and died.
This is very sad for all involved.

That is a very difficult area to navigate w/ the hills and high amounts of traffic and the high rate of speed.

Very sorry to read that. And your second statement is spot on.

Exactly! The more reason that emergency vehicles should be extra safe traveling through that area......
Bingo :yay:

One brilliant scheme the police came up with was to have radar set up there and they actually were walking into the middle of NB Route 4 during morning rush hour.

That is correct...she was 18. Very tragic.

Also heard on the Channel 4 news that she had just graduated from Northern High School this year. Thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family and the Police Ofiicer's.
How sad. My thoughts and prayers to her family and friends. I don't drive it often, but I hate that stretch of Rt. 4 because of all of the little hills and terrible visibility for oncoming cars in the distance.

So sorry to hear...hopefully he'll be able to recover and move forward.

I'm sure there are others who will jump forward and blame the officer for doing his job.

Prayers for all involved.
My thoughts exactly. There are those out there that always place blame on the police, no matter what the situation. I don't think now is the time to start placing blame - we don't know yet what transpired on that road today. I hope this officer recovers quickly.

As for the family of the other driver, many thoughts & prayers being sent their way. What a tragedy. If she was indeed only 18, she had her whole life ahead of her.

Oh, my, this is horrible.

I guess that explains why Sheriff Evans was not able to be at the Camp COPS graduation today. They said he was involved with something that had come up unexpectedly today. I was hoping it wasn't something like this, but I kind of figured it had to be, because Sheriff Evans usually attends events like this for the county's youths.

The Sheriff Deputies who worked with the 120-130 kids this week at Camp Cops had to be thinking about their colleague with heavy hearts as they went about the business of the last day at Camp COPS. They made the last day a very memorable for a whole lot of kids & I'm sure it wasn't easy.

Just a little perspective before the thread goes south on the police.

I am writing this in reference to the accident in front Apple Green. I am personally envolved in the because, the young woman the died was my sons Girl friend. She left our home approx 20 min to the accident to go to WAWA with my younger son. Thank good that my younger son met one of his friends at WAWA and did not ride back to my home with her. She was crossing RT 4 cross over to come back home. She was spending the night do to some family issues. The police officer I know also. He was responding to a Domestic at approx 110 mile and hour through a 45 mile an hour speed zone in to Dunkirk Town Center. Was it worh the death of a love one? There are over a couple hundred yards of skid marks. Please drive by the scene and look. As an XMedic in Calvert we are tought use Due Reguard for safety! Was this used? no it was not! Going through a 45 mile an hour area at 110! I hope an investigation is done here. My son is devistated and so is our family,

Much sympathy to your son, your family and to her family as well. She was way too young. And thank God your younger son was no longer in the car at the time! :huggy:

I just drove by it coming back from Sneade's. There is no way for any northbound vehicle driver to see someone making that U-turn at high speed. Drivers making that U-turn also have difficulty seeing high speed approaching northbound traffic because of the hill leading up to it.

My condolences to the families.

Been here 6 years and this is your first post???
Who's MPD are you?
You can't spell worth a lick...no wonder you are an "XMedic" (ex-medic..neither letteres need to be in the upper case)
How do you know Wells was running at 110 MPH?
You out there running radar or something?
You go and measure the skid marks too?

I doubt you know any of this and are just making it up...
Never a single post in 6 years.....hummm....:coffee:
