"There may be some mental health issues here," he said
Ya think????

Why do these idiots always say that about some heinous criminal who butchers his victims or dismembers them? "There may be some mental health issues here."

YA FRIGGIN' THINK??????

What's funny is that description of the mother? That could be my Mom. Seriously. And nobody really knows what goes on behind closed doors.

I would bet one of my lungs that we have some "Norman Bates" type issues in this mother-son relationship.

:yay: That sounds about right. If she was all that, and a counselor, why the "ex"? Even if she was the saint that everyone thought she was, some things can't be saved, marriages and children included. I'd like to hear some comments from the boys father about ex-wifey, and changes in attitude or other changes in the boy that he (the father) has noticed over the years. Of course, that will be tough. At 15, boys are just plain nutso anyway. I remember it being one of the toughest times in my life anyway. Temper was out of control, moodier than any woman I've ever known (some say that hasn't changed  ), all emotions seemed to be amplified exponentially...

This one will prove to be more interesting to follow than the MJ trial, no doubt.

This has "made for TV movie" written all over it.

Another Menendez type of story perhaps?

I disagree. Let me just indulge in a bit of psychoanalysis:

Mom is a flamboyant egocentric who tells everyone who will listen to her what a charmer her boy is and how he's the center of the universe. In reality, she's far too busy keeping up her public persona to actually interact with the boy, outside of mouthing New Age platitudes.

Boy finally kills Mom in a fit of rage at being rejected by her, except as a tool to show off to others.

The Mom knew damn well something was wrong with her son. People don't suddenly snap and slash the hell out of their parent, poking their eyes out for good measure, with no prior warning. But to admit that there was a problem would mean she'd also have to admit she isn't perfect - something she would literally rather die than do.

Or maybe he just saw Ozzy's "Hippie Killer" t-shirt and decided to take it to heart.

Doesn't matter how egocentric Mom was or what she was like. That boy had to be taught that killing is wrong. If you can distinguish right from wrong you should be found guilty and punished according to your crime. In this case, this kid should be executed, but obviously in today's society, that will not happen.

By virtue of human nature, it makes a situation easier to digest if we can make some sense of it, even by pathologicalizing it... Neurosis + Chemical Balances - Healthy Release = Some Effed Up Way to Let Go of Sh!t... Severity of Result = Severity of Situation...

Sounds like you have some insight... Kid must have had a bad biochemical/environmental coupling that made him cuckoo for cocoa puffs...

That was pretty good :yay: I'm going to add that to the list of topics for my book "How To Do Life In Ten Easy Lessons".

If anyone is a candidate for a "temporary insanity" plea, it's this kid. He'll get off with some time in the nut ward.
