Copying fee

I went to Staples and got charged a fee ($2.50) to print pictures because the lady pulled my pictures off of a disk I brought in. The lady said they charge a fee because it takes up memory space on their computer. She said it used to cost $5.00, but they changed it to $2.50. Just curious....Is this common practice at other copying places?

Did you try CVS or Walgreen's or Walmart? Most of them have the photo kiosks where you put your disk in, choose your pictures and print at the cost of about .12 a picture? Not sure but I know it is very inexpensive.

I have only used my home printer to make copies, so that's why I am clueless on this subject. The kids have a bunch of pictures to print off, and my color cartridge disappears so fast these days. Thanks for your suggestions. Sounds like a better deal than Staples!

Most of them now can take your memory stick or card directly from your camera. You don't need to copy them to a CD but you might want to check it out first.

IMO, you got OWNED by an absolute B/S answer from Staples. Once the pictures where printed, doesn't the moron operator know how to operate the DELETE button...

I only got 2 pictures printed on regular laser type paper. I unknowingly paid the charge because I bought more stuff, and didn't notice. When I did notice(I hadn't left the store yet), I went back and asked her what the charge was for. My husband was with me and said that's ridiculous and asked to talk to the manager. The only reason she gave us back the money is because the associate never told me about the charge before printing.

They charge if you use a memory stick, too. Unfortunately, I don't know of anywhere else I can print a document in color.

you can just upload them up through yahoo pics and then pick them up at target whenever, I think it's around 12 cents a pic. Don't quote me on that. But its the easiest I've found so far.

I have used the kiosk at CVS quite often and it doesn't cost that much. Sometimes they have specials and other times I think it's laround 19 cents. They print very good pictures. I have also used Wal-Mart a couple of times and they have been good as well. You can use your memory stick or CD. With Wal-mart you can actually upload to their website from your computer and have them delivered to your house or to the store near you.

Please have patience with me for confusing some of you...I've made snapshot pictures at Walmart and Target using my memory stick, but what about pictures that are on a floppy disk in a word document? Her assignment is to make a collage, so she found a bunch of pictures from the internet, put them in a word document, and wants them printed in color....Who's going to tell me to go to Staples?!

I'm not sure what the standard price is for color ms word documents, but staples is probably the place I would go for such. And while I understand that they are going to charge some amount to print, regardless of what it is, claiming that it is because of memory space is total bs. Memory space can be reclaimed with the push of a button. It probably costs that much because the service is not in high demand.

I called the library and they charge $1/page to get copies made on their color printer. Even though I disagree with Staples policy, there's not much difference in price for what I need printed. Thanks all for answering my questions. Stay dry!
