I know DeWalt seems to be the defacto leader, but I started with Makita and LOVE their tools. Have a good selection (all bought online) and everywhere I go I look and either nobody sells Makita or they only have one or two tools that I already have.

I have a 1/4 inch impact that I've abused and the little tool never fails to impress (now looking for the 1/2 inch impact).

Batteries that last for a considerable amount of continuos use time combined with mere minutes to recharge, I don't understand why they don't have more resellers..

Back to online shopping for my next tool, and a lost sale for local resellers..

I am partial to Ridgid, they are sold at Home Depot and pretty equilivant to Dewalt. The best thing about Ridgid is their batteries have a lifetime warrenty.

I have both Makita and DeWalt also. DeWalts are bulkier, heavier and more expensive IMO.

I'm also looking for a cordless 1/2dr impact for tire changes. I just can't find one that has the same batteries that I already use. Running the big air compressor and air hose is a pain.

Aren't we getting lazy? What ever happened to just using a 4 way lug wrench? lol

Check with Dysons. They had a really great supply of Makita tools. I bought a bunch of them for my husband over the years.

What kind of Makita do you have?

I have the 18v Li-Ion and ToolKing has the 1/2 inch impact either as a kit or as a bare tool.. I've already have 3 batteries and a charger so normally I just buy the bare tool..

WHICH is another issue with buying locally or at a BIG box store.. After you've bought your first cordless tool, or tool set you don't NEED another battery charger or battery.. sell just the tool! In the past I've gone to Toolking and bought just the bare tool (no battery, no charger, no case) and paid about a 1/3d what the tool normally costs because of the battery and the charger.
