That ain't how you play lawn darts. You play lawn darts by whipping them straight up in the air and see who is the last one to run to safety, they win.

It was a much better game that way.
Just like baseball where you can tag a runner by throwing the ball at them.

We used to play chicken with anything sharp, to include jarts. Stand face to face and try to throw sharp implement as close to their feet as possible.. fist one to move their feet loses.
It was all fun and games until a girl in our neighborhood took a 6 foot crowbar (tankers bar) through her foot.

Probably 15 years or more ago, we were at a campsite for a 4-wheel offroad event. In PA or VA..don't remember. Anyway, guy in the next campsite over from ours strolls over to introduce himself as we're sitting around the campfire just after dusk. After exchanging a few pleasantries, he blurts out: "Hey..you fellas play corn hole"?
He narrowly avoided an ass whupping. None of us had yet heard of a game by the same name played with bean bags and target boards.
