I wasnt there but I bet its this little a old guy who's been hanging around the trail between Oaks Rd and Lighthouse Liquors, looks to be in his 60's or so, Ive seen him just about everyday on the trial and he usually had a drink in his hand, thought maybe he was living somewhere in the woods. The other day he was stooped down on the ground, looked to be trying to keep warm.

Is he the only homeless person back there (that you know of) or are there others?

He's the only one, and he may or may not be homeless, but I always seemed to see him in the same place, I suspected he might be without a home. I would really be surprised if there were any others in that area, it backs up to homes just a short distance back through the woods. I have seen no other people in that area but him. I live very close by the trail and Im in that area 2 or 3 times a day. I would consider the trail to be very safe in that area and in fact the whole distance from the start to finish in Charlotte Hall.

nobody really

I need a nap
I always biked that part of the trail and the mechanicsvile/laurel grove section. There were always people on the trail (joggers/walkers other bikers), never saw any that appeared homeless or threatening. There was always an old guy riding a very old bike on 235 near laurel grove, but never on the trail.
