It's not like the DoD doesn't have anything better to do like figuring out the budget situation that has put funding on nearly every level to a halt.

Pentagon: Religious Proselytizing is Not Permitted | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes

Religious liberty groups have grave concerns after they learned the Pentagon is vetting its guide on religious tolerance with a group that compared Christian evangelism to “rape” and advocated that military personnel who proselytize should be court martialed.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is calling on the Air Force to enforce a regulation that they believe calls for the court martial of any service member caught proselytizing.

President Mikey Weinstein and others from his organization met privately with Pentagon officials on April 23. He said U.S. troops who proselytize are guilty of sedition and treason and should be punished – by the hundreds if necessary – to stave off what he called a “tidal wave of fundamentalists.”

“Someone needs to be punished for this,” Weinstein told Fox News. “Until the Air Force or Army or Navy or Marine Corps punishes a member of the military for unconstitutional religious proselytizing and oppression, we will never have the ability to stop this horrible, horrendous, dehumanizing behavior.”

If they go full throttle on this, I will be curious to see if they go after Muslim proselytizing just as much as Christian; I mean considering the Ft. Hood massacre.

OMG!!:cds:

WTH is wrong with these people? Did they decide to use a outdated word "proselytizing" to make uneducated people fearful of the "...oppression, ...horrible, horrendous, dehumanizing behavior.”

Dude...proselytizing means to convert or to recruit. It's not like they are being hazed for Chief. (Which is very amusing as long as you are not the one enduring it. :dye:)

Are the SOLDIERS having guns held to their heads and being forced to convert??

This pisses me off. And I'm not even a Christian. Sharing beliefs is a GOOD thing. Some people NEED something to believe in and it offers a great deal of comfort and solace to someone that is in combat situations.

I am pretty sure the majority of our men and women in uniform are capable of handling a sharing of Faith.

The thing about this is, proselytizing is not defined. I can see where they don't want bible-thumpers getting up in everyone's face asking if they're saved, but to state your faith and discuss it is another matter. What is a military chaplain for anyway? :eyebrow:

I have never had anyone in the Military, Chaplain or otherwise, try to convert me or my husband.

Now, my ex-in laws on the other hand...:duel: LOL But their actions were done out of love and sincere concern not duty. It makes a difference. (At least to me it does.)

I have had my share of dedicated believers knock on my door, we always have the most insightful discussions.
