Court to consider death penalty for child rape

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court this week hears arguments about whether the death penalty can be imposed for child rape, taking up for the first time in more than 30 years whether a crime other than murder can be punished by execution.

The nation's highest court has set arguments on Wednesday on whether the death penalty for the crime of raping a child represents unconstitutionally cruel and unusual punishment.

It will be the second major death penalty case heard this year. In January, the justices considered the current lethal three-drug cocktail used in most U.S. executions.

A ruling is expected by late June on the challenge by two Kentucky death row inmates who argued the lethal injection method violated the constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment by inflicting needless pain and suffering."

There was a thread on here about that, a week or two ago, discussing the death penalty.

I said something to the point where if you mess with a child - abuse, rape or cause undue trama for the kid, it should be automatic.

I see dozens of youngins' at my store each week; beautiful little children.

How in the heck an adult can become sexually aroused by looking at one of these little wonders - is way beyond my comprehension.

Acting like a sick freak just doesn't cut it. Erasure from society does.

I read an article today that said the Chinese punish people with a bullet in the back of the head while a doctors stand by to harvest their organs.

I think that's a good idea for the child rapists. That way, they can give back to the community.

If murder and child rape both are punishable by death, it worries me that the sickos might start killing babes instead of only raping. Rape them, kill them, no one to identify them and the punishment is the same if caught.
A punishment worse than death is warranted for anyone who could harm a child.

One guy said that children, even ones as young as toddlers, are deliberately provocative and used as an example the way they get in your lap and wiggle around. I thought I was going to puke. They have short attention spans that make them little wiggle boxes, you sick freak! It would not pay for me to be a Judge when one of them came up before me.

I would have then asked that person to please step into an internet booth(previously wired with at least 28,000 volts) in order to record his testimony for later online discussion.
