LEONARDTOWN, MD (August 3, 2020) – Due to the prediction of inclement weather, the following COVID-19 testing sites will be closed on Tuesday, August 4, 2020:
St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) COVID-19 testing sites – Leonardtown and Lexington Park locations, and the St. Mary’s County Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing Site at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital
Normal testing operations are expected to resume on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.
Health Department COVID-19 testing sites and hours are:
SMCHD Leonardtown Office: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
SMCHD Lexington Park Office: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
SMCHD COVID-19 Testing:
Testing is offered in front of the Outpatient Pavilion at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital (Monday – Friday from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.) In order to be tested in the drive-thru, individuals must:

SMCHD COVID-19 Testing:
- Walk up for testing, parking is available
- Appointment-free
- No doctor’s order needed
- Free of Charge (no out-of-pocket cost, co-payment, co-insurance, etc.)
- Bring health insurance information and identification, if possible – Uninsured community members welcome
Testing is offered in front of the Outpatient Pavilion at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital (Monday – Friday from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.) In order to be tested in the drive-thru, individuals must:
- Have a doctor’s order for testing from a community health care professional or the Health Department, available through the COVID-19 Community Hotline (301-475-4911)
- Present a valid photo ID and insurance card
- Remain in their vehicle with the windows rolled up until it is time to receive their test. An associate will come out to your vehicle.
Who should get tested?
- Anyone showing signs or symptoms of COVID-19
- Close contacts (even if they do not have symptoms) of persons who have COVID-19
- Those attending events where social distancing is not maintained
- Anyone returning from out-of-state travel, particularly from areas with rising case rates
- Community members without symptoms (asymptomatic) may also get tested
