Cracker Barrel

Well, most of us love Cracker Barrel. I know I do. Not long ago I had the Fried Country Apples for desert. It was excellent. That is until I found what I thought was a few finger nails in the Fried Apples. I brought it to the manager's attention. He gave me the information for the corporate Headquarters.

He took one of the pieces that I didn't consume and forward it to their HQ. One call I received from Cracker Barrel Headquarters said they felt the piece that was forward to them was "organic" in nature.

They later sent me a few gift certificates and a letter stating that they thought the object was "undetermined". However, some research that I did on line showed that another Cracker Barrel in the southern states area had a same type of description. This tells me that perhaps they had a wider issue than just locally.

Would THIS face lie?
Better a fingernail than a toenail... Not sure why but I think I'd rather eat a fingernail.. On the other hand, you don't scratch yer butt with yer toes..:killingme

sounds like that little piece that's in the center around the seeds.

I thought so too until I had it examined. I had thought that Cracker Barrel would deny it was a finger nail, which is why I had it examined. It turns out they never denied it. By initial examination, it had the look and feel of a finger nail. It turns out that's what it was.

roy, thanks for the post, have never eaten at a Cracker Barrel before. Was talking with someone i work with who told me they were pretty good and to try the St Mary's one out.
Reevaluating that right now.

Did it taste like normal fingernails? Was it full nails or just clippings?

Just a few clippings. What got me is when I researched it, I found another problem at another Cracker Barrel with the identical description. I told the Cracker Barrel Headquarters about it. I suggested that they have a comprehesive investigation since I was suggesting that they had a food tampering problem. They acted like they ignored me. I did contact the Health Department who investigated the following morning.

Please don't reevaluate. Since this occured at another Cracker Barrel in the south, it was due to obvious food tampering. This is something that the FDA and or FBI should probably look in to. Food tampering can happen at any place, at any restaurant. It is NOT this Cracker Barrel's fault. In fact, this Cracker Barrel passes all health inspections with flying colors all the time. It's a good place to eat, for a good price at a good location. I'll be returning. I just don't eat the fried apples anymore.
