What a bizarre and horrible story. :frown:

LEONARDTOWN — Mystery surrounds the beating of a dog that led to his death last week after the house where he lived with his owner was burglarized.

The story is eerie. ”He was a lab mix. One year and half. His name was Jake,” said the owner, Richard Paradis. The dog died on December 1 after he was allegedly brutally beaten up by a burglar who allegedly broke into the house of Paradis on South Snow Hill Manor Road in St. Mary’s City. According to charging documents, on November 12, St. Mary’s Sheriff officer Keith Moritz responded to the home of Paradis at South Snow Hill Manor Road for reported breaking and entering.

The suspect, a former student of St. Mary’s College is a member of a band named Byzantine that plays at local bars. Paradis phoned the police on 11/12/06 at 0127 hours and told police that he returned home from a bar and discovered his home burglarized. The police report said the victim located an unknown subject sleeping on his couch and dialed 911 to report the incident.

...

”He was all crapped in his pants,” Paradis said, when he found Weber on his couch. Paradis said when he returned home at 2 am Sunday, he found his window doors broken, a phone books ripped into two, and the kitchen counter tops in bad shape.

”He took out a Burrito and had shoved it into my toaster,” Paradis said. ”He ate dog pepporoni treats and passed out on my couch, covered in crap,” he said. Police responded within two minutes of Paradis call. He said Jake suffered haemorhage him on the brain, injuries on his jaw and he noticed left eye swollen after the burglary. “He died December 1 at 4.50 am in my arms,” he said. ”He was a bundle of joy, brindle in color. He was wellknown in the neighborhood. I was known as Jake’s owner,” Paradis said.
He said the suspect used his sweat shirt to clean his crap. “He could have burnt it (home) down.”

And the story only gets worse...
