Crawl space encapsulation

Anyone had it done, anyone know of any local companies that do it? Any idea on prices?

Curious about cost, process, observed benefits, etc. Seems like it's probably going to be somewhat expensive, but crawlspaces in general are just so nasty, I can't see them being healthy for us or the house itself long-term.

Rael did his back in 2009.
Looks great.
I'm sure he would point you in the right direction.

Also watch for ads on this page. Usually, when someone posts a thread about a particular service or need, (magically) this site recommends companies that do that type of work.

If you're hell bent on getting someone else to do it, you'll pay. I wish I did more research, I would have done it myself (hindsight is 20/20). Not that they didn't do a good job, I loved the work they did (still do). Just could have saved some money once I understood what I was really trying to do. See the last post of the thread DoWhat linked. it'll help you to decide if you want to take it on or have someone else do it.

I like very much what the project is doing for the house, it is dry in the crawl space, which should mean that the rest of the house should be close to the same (I think the term for this is stacking). It is now a bright, useful space, and not a dingy, scary darkness. I like that. :yay:

I also like how the space is being used now. And I did that myself (the hanging racks). :yay:

Good luck, also.

This thread is so old, the last time I read it, I was riding my dinosaur and scrolling the forums on my flip phone.

Wait....

Okay, maybe not a flip phone, but all the links are broked.

Anyway, there's a new company in Mechanicsville called Brincefield Crawlspace Solutions. They're on 3 Notch, but have a North Cacka-lacka phone number (252). Cheerless Point also has a 252 area code, which is why I recognized it right away.

Anyway, I'm thinking about pulling the trigger and calling them for an estimate.

Probably not very helpful, but contracted a company in Virginia to do my dad's place in 2018. It was more mold remediation than encapsulation, but followed the same process and materials. Cost was about $6k.

Wow! I was expecting half that, based on nothing but a guess.

Thanks.

Might be energy tax credits too.

It's a big job sealing everything up, insulating, and installing dehumidifier.
My job did not include a dehumdidifier. The biggest cost was prep; cleaning and decontaminating every joist, beam, nook and cranny. Doesn't show it on my estimate, but I thought they used baking soda blasting.
