Cream of mushroom soup

I feel about this the way BG feels about canned chicken - stop it immediately. It's gross and wrong, and you might as well put a neon sign on your forehead that says, "I can't cook worth a damn and get all my recipes from the Kraft website."

Tuna casserole, okay - you can use canned mushroom soup in that. It's supposed to be disgusting kid food. And tater tot casserole is okay as well. But to use canned soup in place of gravy or a nice pan sauce is pure ignorant Al Qaeda bull####. It's ridiculously easy to make sauces from scratch, in fact it's easier than opening the can. Plus you get the flavor of the food you're preparing and not the condensed flavor of the tin can.

Really, stop it. Someone needs to care enough about your children to make a stand against this abuse.

broccoli casserole, swedish meatballs, etc... I use it for so many recipes. But agree w/ you NEVER replace it for a gravy or pan sauce.

Seriously how hard is it to make a pan sauce It is probably the simpliest thing to do!

It takes about two minutes to make GBC sauce from scratch.

are you kidding I LOVE the stuff I have several weeknight type recipes that I love that use CMS. I would never cook dinner for someone using it or anything, but it gets us by during the week when I am too busy and tired to give a crap.

ANd I can certainly "cook worth a damn" but it eliminates steps when I want to dump and cook.

I agree mushrooms are disgusting. But as I age I am starting to palete them a little better before I used to if something had them in there...now I can get it down w/ out gagging if I dont realize they are in there.

However I use this in so many recipes yet cant taste the mushrooms...if that makes sense.

Makes complete sense. If something called for cream of disgusting that I was making, I'd switch it to cream of chicken... or even celery.

is it also anti-american if I use onion soup mix in things? Because sometimes I toss cut up potatoes with olive oil and onion soup mix and bake..and it is delightful.
