Creationism in our Public Schools

I would question the stranger, and his selfish intentions. But at the same time there are many religious fanatics who share a hatred towards gays and other people. So there is an organized force behind them, and they are well funded. It makes you think twice about religion.

The stranger against red jackets doesnt' have the "Christian Coalition" and the masses to back him up, like the gay hate groups. They are really organized and it kind of scares me. I just wonder how hating homosexuals is more important then trying to help orphans find homes, or helping families find affordable homes?

First of all, not all Christians hate gays. Episcopalians allow gay ministers, for example. And I think the Methodists let that lesbian minister keep her job as well.

The only reason you, UrbanPancake, are so vehemently anti-Christian is because of your own perceptions, not based on any reality. Do you think it's fair to disparage ALL Christians just because you don't like the views of one of them? Would you like to be judged by the actions of Adolph Hitler, for example, since you are both men?

Liberals cry a lot about diversity, but they're always the first ones to cast it aside and lump EVERYONE into a single category because of one thing they have in common. You are a Democrat. Shall I assume that you routinely cheat on your wife and use racism and bigotry to line your own pockets?

I never said all Christians hate gays. The Christian Coalition does. It's a well funded group with many members. I think I said it was the religious fanatics who are hateful. I also didn't lump everyone together. I'm sorry if you misunderstood what I wrote, that's not what I intended it to mean.

I'm not anti-christian. I was raised by Catholic parents. Well they were rather secular.....

Fine, but you have expressed disdain for Christians in general, not just the ones who take it to an extreme. And here is the Christian Coalition's agenda for 2005:

http://www.cc.org/issues.cfm

Show me where it says they hate gays? It is my understanding that they have nothing against gays, they just don't want them to be able to enter into *dundunDUH!* Holy Matrimony. Also, I see the CC as more interested in preserving their own rights, rather than trying to take anyone else's away. Unless you think being able to cut your unborn child into pieces and throw it in the garbage is a "right".

Marriage is a civil right.... and "dundunDUN" they don't want it to happen..... They Christian Coalition attacks gays all the time. They make references to gay families stating how they are untraditional and a threat to society. That is hateful.

-You do know I was cracking a joke in my ealier post right?
The only thing I line my pockets with is I.O.U.'s......

It's not "hateful" - it's merely a difference of opinion. That's why many religious groups have come out in favor of civil unions with the same rights as marriage - they just don't want it called "marriage" because they want to keep that word as describing a man and a woman.

Yes, many of them think homosexuality is wrong, but that doesn't constitute an "attack", in my opinion, any more than I would feel attacked if someone said they didn't like the color of my 4Runner.

They don't want me to adopt either. # 16 and 18 I have to be against them on. The other issues aren't too far out for me to live with. Except protecting sites in Israel. Israel is a tough country, they can handle their own. :patriot:

Yes and no

Yes, as a matter of principle, burning the flag is a freedom of expression. However, being a Vet, I cannot honestly say that I approve of burning the flag. If I saw it happen in front of me, I would probably knock the (insert word here) out of them. :patriot:

Fabric?

It may be to you, but it is a symbol of everything that I fought for, no matter how much predjudice I face. I fought for the right for people to call me a F#g, I fought to keep this country safe, I fought so that people like you have the right to say what you want. I did not fight for some azz to burn the very symbol of our beginnings, our strength, and our patriotism. It may well be a piece of fabric you could by at Walmart, and sad to say, it was probably stitched in China, but the symbol and meaning don't go away. Fabric to you, but it is has been a symbol for this country for over 200 years.....And it is still flying..... :patriot:

You didn't fight for Freedom of Speech?

As a vet I would expect it to mean more to you than to me. I see it as just a flag. Other countries have them also, and they are just flags...
I think this country means more to me than just a flag.
There is nothing wrong with burning the flag in protest. That is why you fought for this country. We have a right to protest our government.

The country is supposed to mean more than the American flag or the bald eagle or a particular branch of military! They all symbolize us as a whole. Therefore, if you despise the flag you despise the American people and everything they've strived for.

No. I don't know why your taking this personally. The flag is made of fabric, it is not the holy grail. It is a symbol yes. The flag is something that can be burned in the name of protest. When the government doesn't listen to its people sometimes it takes a good old fashion flag burning to get it.
