Credit Card Fraud

Got a call at 9:00 this morning from Citibank Mastercard fraud dept. Turns out a card that we almost never use was used yesterday (5 times). I am going to assume that it was online since we still have the card.

We had no balance on this card. The only time we had recently used it was earlier this week at a local retailer---and that was to return something that we had purchased from their online store in February. This seems to be pretty common around here. I feel so violated! :bawl:

Well, be happy they called you!

Try not to feel too bad, I just had my work credit card stolen. I guess someone just really felt the need to go buy some pretty dresses at some New York designer store. Wonder how much it cost them to ship to Africa......

I guess it was stolen from one of the online stores I purchased from. That, or someone picked it up off an order I faxed in and sold it to someone else.

I probably shouldn't because I don't know for sure if it has to do with this company. Although I do suspect that someone there is involved. If I knew for sure that it was them, I would say the name.

Fess up. Hertz did it to me.

I'll make it really easy. In close proximity to Petco (California) and sells clothes. I know there is something going on, but I just don't feel like dealing with them. If we used the card all of the time, I would be hesitant to point the finger, but this was just too much of a coincidence.

How did you deal with Hertz?

Hertz did it to me.
Hubby is on travel right now with a few guys. They have two rental cars from Hertz. One vehicle lost power steering after about a week. Hertz tried to blame it on one of the guys and demanded they pay for it. :roflmao:

Is that the one by the bowling alley? My hubby uses Avis for his travel and it has worked out so far. I don't think we'll be using Hertz at all!

This is how it went down. We went to the Keys on vacation and rented a car at Hertz. That was the ONLY place that had the info they used. I got home and about a week later, I got a call from Western Union. They wanted to know if I was trying to send someone in Hollywood, Florida $350 off my credit card. I said no. This wonderful woman from Western Union turned down the charge (the person charging it had told her if she called our number, she would here "her" voice on the answering machine and she was on vacation (meaning me) and to go ahead and charge it. Luckily, we were home from vacation and I took the call. To make a long story short, I had to file charges with the local Sheriff's Department, got Hertz involved and they were REAL interested until they figured out it was one of their employees, then stopped returning my calls. The lady at Western Union was not "allowed" to give me the phone # of the person that was using my credit card, BUT SHE DID. She also let me listen in on the call when the credit card stealer called back. We harasssed them (the credit card stealer) for weeks. Called at all times of the night, etc. They got the hint.

BTW, I think someone else on here just complained about a company in that area and had the same problem, but I'm too lazy to search for it since it doesn't concern me.

Well, I will say that I have... on occasion... shopped at Old Navy. I know there are some people on here who have or do work there, so I will say that it could have happened on their website or at the store. I don't know which.

My girlfriend coming from Michigan, had a rental from Hertz and about 150 miles into her journey here with 5 kids. The car lost power steering as well
and then the axel broke off and she had a terrible accident.
Thank goodness only minor injuries. But Hertz blamed it on her as well, for not throughly checking over the car before leaving their lot.
