Credit Card Number on File at Pharmacy

My mom is in an assisted living facility and uses a local pharmacy to have her meds delivered to the director of the facility. The pharmacy has her credit card number on file so the med costs can be billed directly to her card.

So I'm thinking I should get her a separate credit card number just for the pharmacy purchase and not give them the card number she uses for all her bill paying, etc??

Any advice??
Thanks :)

I would think so.

We had two fraudulent charges show up so I'm sitting here thinking of what to do to increase my security protection. I don't want to quit shopping on-line and the pharmacy requires a card number on file so I have to have that. Mom gets alot of diff meds at diff times of the month and I don't want to be driving back and forth so much.

I'm just thinking out loud here. Venting some. Am very angry at the turds who used our card illegally.

yeah def.

Frankly that is violation of PCI - Payment Card Industry Standards

full CC #'s + Sec Code are not supposed to be written down ANYWHERE someone else can gain access, and use the number fraudulently

they may get away with it, because they are a small time player - under X number of transactions per yr, only need to meet minimal standards - but if they were responsible for a breech, the pharmacy could be charged million and lose the right to accept CC or pay a much higher % per transaction fee.

not my favorite topic - PCI

we have had to spend 10,s of thousands here at work because of how our systems operate

there is the crux of the matter - your convince ....

frankly the Pharmacy is doing you a favor, as I stated in my other post it is against PCI Standards to have any Full CC number written down

I would look into an online Pharmacy .... where you can give them the CC # at the time of refilling the order, and you can usually get 3 month supply
