Officers located the gun, which turned out to be a replica of a semi-automatic handgun. In accordance with recently enacted law, due to the age of the juveniles, no criminal charges can be filed in Maryland for crimes such as this.

For your consideration ...

Basically no different than when we were kids playing cowboys and indians or cops and robbers with our western pop gun and holster. Kid had a simple air soft gun wanting to stupidly show off, corrupted most likely by current TV programming and other influences that it's no big deal.

yeah, but wayyyy back when, Kids used to bring cap guns to school and play with them during recess..
Lets imagine you are a store clerk and a 14-15 kid, (ahem) points that at you and demands the money.....does it look like real, or maybe a ghost gun?

What I was miffed by was the highlighted statement that an arrest is somehow banned and charges cannot be filed. Thats all.

but it wasn't a kid pointing anything at a store clerk.

kids are idiots.. and if the kid wasn't making anyone feel unsafe i don't think we need to charge him with a crime. expecting kids to have adult mindsets of consequences is ignorant. Wanting to charge kids with a crime punishable with incarceration for victimless crimes is ignorant.
we should be lucky that liberals aren't demanding prison for kids with fake guns.

not too long ago some places wanted to hang little kids that ate their grilled cheese to the shape of a gun or pointed their finger thumb up and saying something like freeze or bang etc.. i'm kind of glad the libtards arne' frothing at this "gun"

Some of them are frothing. They just can't figure out how to lock people up without impacting one demographic cohort or another in larger numbers than their percentage of population.

That's why the MD State Board of Education changed the discipline framework all school systems have to follow several years ago. One or another demographic was overwhelmingly involved committing various infractions, like assault on a staff member, so consequences were downgraded to eliminate suspension or expulsion.

Back in the day, we played with toy guns, not replicas.
Ours shot metal BBs or pellets, not soft plastic things.
What's wrong with kids these days, why don't they just stick with Grand Theft Auto, a little rape, pillaging, murder and plunder.
