Anyone been to Croatia? I'm looking for suggestions for places to go or things to see/do?

I drove over from Trieste 1 day. Took the coast road down to Umag. Very picturesque. That was about 9 years ago. Things were inexpensive from what I remember. Just got some gelato and drove back. I would have liked to stay longer.

Had a port visit at Dubrovnik in 2000. It was cool to walk around the old walls and see some of the old buildings. They told us not to go into the hills because there was unexploded ordnance and land mines still there. Not sure if that was BS or for real though...

I read about the unexploded ordnance. What I read said that suspected areas were marked. I think I'll stay away from the road less traveled. LOL
