Cruising pregnant

I just now discovered that all of the cruise lines restrict pregnant cruisers..and will not allow them to sail after their 24th week, and require (princess is particularly bad) a bit of extensive and intrusive info..

I am a little weirded out. I am thinking about planning a cruise (very soon, like next month) in order to get away with SO for a little bit before the baby comes. before I saw the FAQ section and the pregnancy restrictions, I would have never even THOUGHT about reporting to the cruise that I was pregnant much less give them detailed EDD calculated from both LMP and sono (seriously, they want both) ...The particular sailing I am looking at, I would still be just under 24 weeks..so I am ok there..but I don't know if I really feel the need to report anything to them..it is a sailing to fl and the bahamas..both of which have hospitals..its not like we are going to sub saharan Africa..

Should I report it? Do you think it is neccessary ? I get why they are doing it I guess, but I feel like if I and my doc are ok with it..why do they need to be involved?

Also...it's a royal carribean cruise..9 days..Fl and bahamas..anyone done that sailing? fun stuff? stuff to avoid? I have never been on royal carribean..good stuff?

Read the cruise lines regulations for pregnancy. In the event you don't disclose you are pregnant and go, I'd hate for them to deny your boarding.

I've been to the Bahamas (both Freeport and Nassau). Where in FL does it stop?

I absolutely loves cruises, but I'm not sure I could handle 9 days on a ship.

A horse of course!
I cruised with RC at about 30 weeks, and didn't tell them a thing. I was limited in what i could do entertainment wise, and sadly watched hubby do all the fun stuff, hang gliding, scuba diving, swimming with the dolphins etc.

I also nearly floated away when i was only in knee high and a big surge came up and swooped me off the coast. Hubs and a stranger had to swim out and haul me back in from the jet stream. The personal floatation devices anchored to my chest wall nearly did me in. Scared me to death. Swimmer beware, let my experience be a valuable lesson to ya. :nono:

I have sailed both Royal Caribbean and Princess and prefer Princess over RC. Princess seemed to be more in tune with passenger needs and had more things to do for the passengers.

However, RC had Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. If you have never had it (or even heard of it), you have to try it. It is some of the best coffee you will ever try. You can only get it here via on line shopping and it goes for 40 bucks a pound. (you might find Jamaican blends in specialty stores, but it is not the same). When I cruised to Jamaica, the price there was 35-38 a pound so the on line price is not price gouging.

I hated Nassau and could not wait to get back on the ship...too many "Hey Joes" and too many trying to sell weed for my tastes...

As far as disclosing, I would disclose everything. As the cruise ship has limited facilities, I am sure they are trying to protect their interests as well as your interests. Heaven forbid if something were to happen and you are 2 days from entering port. They may or may not be fully equipped to handle such an emergency.

I was just concerned about being put on some "black list" where I would get nasty looks if I ordered a glass of wine or a coffee or barred from the rock climbing wall or excursions or something..

Pick up a Bermuda cruise instead. I think you'll have a better time/experience. I absolutely love Key West, but it's not a place you want to visit when you're pregnant. The whole point of going to KW is to party and get sloppy drunk.
