They are really short on coaches this year. My husband must have been half asleep when he went to register our oldest for t-ball .... he is now a coach and has made me assistant coach.
Let's fit this in w/ Tae Kwon Do, Fire House Aux, work and our youngest son!
Good for you and your husband for steping up. As a long time coach and former board member in a different league I will tell you it is hard to find people to step and coach a team.
I coach much older kids (baseball) 13-14 year olds. I was done after last year because my boy started highschool and would be playing ball for them, but a bunch of the kids and their parents called me and said they wanted to play but only if I coached. So Here I am getting ready to start another season while trying to balance daughters soccer, youngest boys soccer oldest boys highschool ball.
Some day I will find some time for myself but at this moment i cant think of anything I would rather do!!!!!!!!
My son got placed on a team without a coach for CSA. Luckily, somebody stepped up and is willing to coach so that the kids will be able to play.
That's what it's all about isn't it!? I don't know much about coaching t-ball, but I'm sure we'll have fun!
Try to stick to very basic stuff ie. base running, proper throwing motion, and proper swing. But most of all for this age make sure every kid has a blast and feels like a super star no matter their skill leval!!!!!!
I have alot of coaching material and vidios if you want them they are yours.
When my oldest played t-ball, the kids were more interested in playing in the dirt than actually playing t-ball. My youngest didn't want to play t-ball this year and opted to play soccer instead.
That is the trouble baseball is a slow game and the younger kids get distracted very easy. I found it better to have games within the game. Like the person who stays in the ready position and pays attention the best each inning gets a piece of gum when they come in the dugout. when sitting in the dug out I would have them do chants to cheer on the batter.
At times I wish I was still doing that age, the older they get bigger PITA they become.

My son is also playing soccer on CSA this year. I think the only weekend with no games is due to the Easter Holiday. It looks like every other weekend has one or two games.
