CSM CSM Public Safety Officers are One Click Away with CSM Safe App

When today’s vehicle accident on Route 225 between Mitchell and Sleepy Hollow roads led to road closures and commuter delays near the La Plata Campus, College of Southern Maryland (CSM) students, staff and faculty heading to the campus were able to count on the CSM Safe App to keep them informed as they tried to make their way to class and work on time. CSM Public Safety and Preparedness Department launched the new CSM Safe App over the summer to put critical, real-time information at users’ fingertips and minimizing response times during both emergency and routine security/safety situations at all campus locations.

“At CSM, our public safety department cannot keep the campuses safe on our own,” said CSM Public Safety and Preparedness Department Executive Director Bill Bessette. “It’s the responsibility of everyone who comes to CSM to work, learn or socialize to be aware of our surroundings and to report any unusual threats, sightings or events. We encourage students and their families to download the CSM Safe App because it is a great tool for our students to better prepare themselves, share information and stay informed.”

Once the CSM Safe App is downloaded, users can customize the app to share information pertinent to individual location and needs.

CSM students and their family members are encouraged to download the free “CSM Safe App” for iOS (Apple) and Android devices. Those without internet access or smart phones can contact the CSM Public Safety and Preparedness Department at any of the CSM campus locations.
