The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) will again partner with the American Red Cross this summer to sponsor a third blood drive at its Prince Frederick Campus Aug. 25. The CSM Student Government Association is leading this third effort that also coincides with the recent #SleevesUpMD challenge issued by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan and the Maryland State Police asking all Marylanders to help replenish the area’s blood banks.
CSM will host an American Red Cross blood drive at its Prince Frederick Campus in August.
According to the American Red Cross, blood supplies are at a critical low and just one lifesaving donation can save as many as three people. With no known end date in the fight against the coronavirus in sight, the Red Cross needs the help of blood and platelet donors to maintain a sufficient blood supply for weeks and months to come. Donating blood is essential to community health and the need is constant.
The blood drive will be held at the Prince Frederick Campus, Building B Multipurpose Room, located at 115 J W Williams Road in Prince Frederick from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment to donate blood at CSM’s Prince Frederick Campus, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or sign up online at https://www.redcrossblood.org/give....College of Southern Maryland Prince Frederick.
The American Red Cross staff follows the highest standards of safety and infection control. In addition to its standard procedures, they have implemented additional precautions because of the COVID-19 pandemic that donors will notice at the blood drive.
