Ubi bene ibi patria
"The blood red glow given off by a diamond that is supposedly cursed has yielded up its secrets at last.

The famed Hope Diamond is a 45.52-carat, deep-blue diamond that sits in the Smithsonian Institution's United States Gem Collection.

A discovery reported today could help solve the riddle of whether it had indeed been stolen from an eye of a sculpted idol of the Hindu goddess Sita, the supposed source of the curse."

:coffee:

I wish they'd have said whether or not they have tested this diamond with others from india or whatever to see if it was really stolen from the hindu idol.

Cool. Natural diamonds of poor color used to be irradiated with gamma rays to change the color. The first diamond I ever bought was an irradiated stone and it was dark blue. Surprised colored diamonds are back in vogue now.
