Cute but dangerous

There's an army of bright-eyed and bushy-tailed operatives very likely conducting surveillance of your house at this very moment, plotting a home invasion. Boldly going wherever the heck they want, they are on the move, fanning out into our neighborhoods, insinuating themselves into our very homes.

We call them "squirrels," and if the word has become a synonym for "potentially dangerous loonies," that should tell you something right there, shouldn't it?

Hehehe.....I love squirrels. In fact, I just finished feeding them, this morning. I have 2 squirrel feeders on trees near the house and a little dish on the ground that I fill with sunflower seeds and peanuts.

We have a "regular" that half his tail is gone...the top of his tail comes to a V......probably got zapped off on a power line.

We never have had problems with them chewing on stuff they aren't supposed to, around here. We do have to keep the food put away in a cabinet, in the garage...otherwise, if the door is open, they come in and tear into the squirrel food bags and eat and scatter it everywhere...but other than that....harmless.

They are harmless until you go out of town for a weekend and they try to feed themselves. They will try to get into your buildings however they can.

How about raccoons? We went through a few raccoon invasions in our garage. Destructive little buggers. They'll tear through everything in their path to go through a bag of garbage.

When I lived in SoMD w/ had a few issues, over the years, with raccoons and possums. Haven't seen either in Orlando. Oddly enough.....we have wild boar here...which I didn't know...until we were driving down the road and saw roadkill....that was a little piggy! I asked a neighbor about it and they said that they were everywhere around here. If you go to the dump in the evenings...the boars are all around looking for food. We also see armadillo wandering around....but we haven't had any trouble with them in the yard on getting into stuff...yet. (Armadillos are gross...they remind me of those "potato bugs".....just a much larger version!!)
