Looks like neat printing to me, guy or gal. I worked with dudes whose printing and handwriting were textbook examples of how to do it. One of them told me his mom was an English teacher in elementary school, and he had no choice but to be perfect.

To me, this was not a spur of the moment note, but well conceived, worked on, and cute. Just hope teacher is amused, and does not make any special concession for the tardy. Staying up late watching TV and crying with mommy afterward just does not cut it for an excuse.

Wish I had thought of that when the kids were younger. I always felt like a fool writing "please excuse (S or J) from school yesterday. He was sick....". I could have photocopied those words and just left blanks to fill in the day and the child's name.
