OH MY GOD! You mean to tell us that there is turnover in a $17 TRILLION economy with 155 MILLION people in the labor force?
People aren't given jobs for life?! I DID NOT KNOW THIS!!! WHEN DID THIS START?!?

In December 2013, 4.258 Million workers lost/left jobs; 4.494 Million workers were hired; there were 4.001 Million job openings
Additionally, here is the most widely recognized reporting on planned layoffs:
2013 December Job Cut Report: Fewest Layoff Announcements Since 1997 | Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.
Every month the "Challenger Report" tallies the total number of planned layoffs. Here is the title of their December report:
"2013 December Job Cut Report: Fewest Layoff Announcements Since 1997"
The number of announced layoffs was 30,623.

The 155 million means only 63.2% of the US population is in the workforce. Lowest number since 1978.
