Guy doesn't look like he has any priors on Maryland court search. Why'd they pick this guy to throw the book at rather than someone with a giant rap sheet? 10 years is longer than the average for 2nd degree murder, and no matter how you argue it drunk driving and killing someone isn't worse that intentionally killing someone. I might buy the argument it's worse than manslaughter, but not worse than 2nd degree murder.

Respectfully, I couldn't disagree with you more.

New sheriff in town and the horrors; she's making good on a campaign promise. God forbid that politicians actually do what they promised when we voted for them.

I can't be certain, but the majority of folks on this forum have had a least one comment in their forum lifetime about southern Maryland bad drivers. This guy was doing 70 plus in a 40 mile zone. He was well over the legal limit established for drinking and driving. Pick on this guy? He was drunk, he was speeding, he was behind the wheel. No worse than 2nd degree murder? I'm sure the family of the victim didn't shrug their shoulders and say meh, second degree murder, what are you going to do. He killed someone Clem, he drank, he sped, he killed someone. I hope that this county doesn't collectively take it so lightly as it has in the past.

I kinda feel for the guy too. Maybe. I don't know if that was the first time he did that or not. But the fact is, he did it. I wish he had thought first. He didn't. I'm sorry but sometimes we just have to be better.

Oh boo fecking hoo, drunk drivers kill people. You know who else kill people? Murderers. But we give murderer's 8 years on average, and the average is only that high because they almost all have a huge rap sheet of past crimes.

It's the hypocrisy that bothers me. This kid doesn't have prior DUIs, or any other real offences so to make sure we send a message to all those repeat Southern Maryland drunk drivers we throw the book at this guy for his first offense (tragic though it may be) rather than say just start throwing the book at regular drunk drivers.

And I play poker in this county so trust me when I tell you there were a lot of others more deserving. I know more than one local with 10+ DUIs. Those are the idiots that need to go to prison.

This should have been a manslaughter charge with a 4 year sentence, anything else is political grandstanding bullshet.

As I read this it sounds more like the murderers should be getting more not the DUI killers getting less.

That's kind of a jerky thing to say and I don't agree with you but you do have a point and we have a new States Attorney. She is not responsible for all the crap that happened before she took over AND she said from square one what her stance was, yet somehow she got elected anyway. What is she supposed to do keep on doing what Fritz did until she finds one to make an example out of? He wasn't a regular drunk driver, he was a drunk driver who killed someone - that's one big ass first offense.

Good old Jamie, FAT LARRYS DAUGHTER, was given the assistant States Attorney job in Saint Mary's County . She was given cases already resolved but had an entourage of reporters with her when trials were held. THE CASES were already resolved. BUT they were highlighted in the media anyway.

Remember the high school shooting at Great Mills? She stood strong, used her loud voice, demanded the accused serve hard jail time!!!!

DAMN IT SHE MEANT BUSINESS!!

(yeah but a plea agreement was already made)

her next objective, get her boss!!!!!!!!
Richard... is that you?
