Over the 4th of July weekend 200 people had to be rescued from the Gulf.
Over the 4th weekend there was sketchy weather and red flags almost every day. (1 red flag means you can go in up to your knees; 2 red flags means stay out of the water.) And yet people still go in and swim out.
Why? Why do they do this? They can clearly see the waves, there are signs all over warning of riptides, and big ass red flags that you can't miss. So why would someone see that red flag and decide to go in anyway? Or even worse, why would they let their kids go in?
I do not understand this.
When Bann was here she got to see a rescue. We watched from her condo window while some dumbass got fished out of the Gulf, slapped on a gurney, and hooked up to the thumper to try and bring him back. Apparently he regained consciousness once they got him in the ambulance.
Stupid.
