I KNOW there are millions of threads, I did a search already...but I am so frustrated and have so many questions...

How does one go about getting in touch with home providers? I am gonna be on waitlists for the centers (which are pretty pricey and I want to :buttkick: them) but since I am trying to get on lists BEFORE alien is born (April, then will have 2 months off..so possibly june-ish)..it seems difficult to do with home providers..but I don't want to be in a position where I have to go back to work and have no where for alien to go. I have family that can take turns watching alien if I get in a bind..but I would really like to have all of this worked out beforehand...

How do I do it? I tried the somd child resource line/website and it was utterly useless...maybe theres someone online here who's kid is gonna turn two in june and i could have their spot:howdy: I dunno..but I am about to cry..this is such a royal pain..I had no idea.

I called them and they gave me a list of about 30 providers in my area to call. Said if I needed more names, they'd give me more names. Then I just called each one until I found one that had an opening and I could come visit and talk to them. I agree that finding infant spots or places with waiting list is next to impossible.

Good luck in your search!

Also, I plan on breastfeeding..and wish to pump to accomodate alien's needs through the day when I can't be there..is any daycare going to have a problem with this? They would presumably feed it like they would formula, no?

There were several moms at our daycare who did that and she was fine with it. I'm sure it's probably hit or miss as to what each provider will and will not do.

I usually got a list of local providers called for availablitly and a time to come by to interview her. Also after your initial meeting w/ the provider do an unexpected drop in. A lot of people reccomended this and at first I didnt do it. I really wish I would have, would have saved a lot of headache. You think it is hard to find a provider now, imagine having your infant at a day care you end up not liking and having to start the search all over again.
