My family is going to Daytona Beach in June and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any sites to see, activities, restaurants, etc....

We are of course planning to hit the beach and the Daytona 500 Experience.

Thanks!

I was unempressed with daytona, place was dirty and dumpy looking. Track and daytona USA were the only good spots, plus they have a giant flea market if you like those.

Outside of the races and bike week, there has never been much to do in Daytona. You may wanna' check restaurant guides online, and hop over to Orlando for theme parks, or St. Augustine for history. Tomoka State Park, north of Daytona, is a nice drive through. Deep Sea fishing, if you're so inclined. Here's a list of historical places Things to Do in Daytona Beach, Florida - Daytona Beach Official Visitors Website

If I think of anything else, I'll post it.

You can drive south to Cape Canaveral to the space center too (nothing scheduled to launch in June tho). Yup - Daytona is pretty much just a beach during the summer. They have a broadwalk but nothing like Ocean City or Virginia Beach. There's a light house there too.
It's one of those centrally located places where you can drive 1-2 hours and be someplace a little more interesting. Like you could take a day to go to the Space Center in the morning and then over to Orlando/Kissimee to Universal/Disney et... in the afternoon and evening.
This link should help you figure out what you want to do and see there.

Summer time afternoon storm season - make sure you have rain ponchos

I agree with some of the other suggestions. Daytona is good for the beach. A day trip to the Space Coast (Cape Canaveral) could be fun. A trip to Disney is about 1.5 hours away, but it's hot and crowded in the summer. St. Augustine historical area is enjoyable (lots of neat places to eat and see there).
