Dayum Printer!!!

Vince

......
Just spent $80 on printer ink cartridges and the dayum thing still won't print squat. Just blank pages. All I get from Epson is take it to a service dealer. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Yep. Prints a very slight line when I do the Nozzle check. Cleaned the heads a couple bazillion times. :banghead:

Sounds like you are printing classified documents. Did you accidently change the default setting from "normal" to "classified" and now it's printing your documents in "classified" mode...

:yeahthat: If it is in **Classified** mode you can only see the print if you are wearing your "Captain Vince, Defender of the Universe" goggles. :yay:

Without an Epson service dealer for miles, guess I'll have to take it apart myself.

There are tiny tubes supplying the ink to the print heads, they clog after a couple years. If you google 'repair epson printer that won't print', you'll find a web site that some guy has that shows you the steps to clear the clogs. My printer did the same as yours, but I was too lazy to work on it and bought another printer.

It is usually cheaper to buy a new printer than it is to buy ink for the old printer.

[soapbox]

Inkjet ink - when you figure the per Qt cost .... you could be drinking Dom P w/dinner and still have money left over ........ Inkjets are the biggest ripoff for not photo printing oh and now the cartridges have microchips that have an expiration date ...... per page cost is expensive - for daily B&W printing your better off with something like an HP 1100 ...... IMHO

[/soapbox]

if it is out of warranty throw it out and by a new one repair costs will be more than what you paid .... of course you could uninstall and try reinstalling the software and drivers 1st ......

could be defective cartridges ............ I got a free brand new HP 1610, Scanner, Copier, Photo Printer for the cost of a new set of ink cartridges and a Firmware update for the Printer - when the wife needs the new Pics of my daughter printed out I use the 1610 other my 2nd hand HP 5 laser jet does the daily chores -

and FYI the print heads are sometimes on the cartridge itself and get changed out with new cartridges:

this was interesting http://blogs.graphicdesignforum.com/chrisd/archives/2006/04/are_inkjet_cart.html

I have often take out "Empty" cartridges in my old Photo 700 Epson, and put them right back in to print lots more pics or 100's more text doc's ....

After reading reviews and attempted head cleanings, I've decided to throw this printer in the trash. I'd have to order a head cleaning kit from epson and still only have a 50% chance of success. More than likely I'll end up damaging the print heads. I'll never buy another Epson. Think I'll go HP or Cannon.
