60 million in revenue.... Thats the profit after operating costs. Dc has a perfect setup since the great majority of the people paying these fines are not citizens of DC and therefore can't vote the damn things out.

Okay, but again I say: each motorist is in complete control over whether or not they get a traffic ticket and have to pay a fine.

But again I say if the purpose of the enforcement is not to increase safety then they're not doing it for the right reasons.

"More than 95% of traffic tickets in D.C. are now issued by a camera." One really has to wonder what the 3,400 sworn officers are doing with their time then, if not traffic enforcement? Because they are certainly not solving any murders, robberies, rapes, or retail thefts, etc..
