Deadly Mall Shooting

BREAKING NEWS: A gunman entered a mall Monday night and shot several people before he was killed, police said.

"There have been multiple victims and there are some fatalities. ... I can't confirm the number," Salt Lake City police Detective Robin Snyder said in brief remarks outside Trolley Square.

"The suspect has been killed. He is no longer a threat," Snyder said.

The man entered the mall about 6:45 p.m. and began shooting randomly, she said.

The two-story mall, just southeast of downtown, is a refurbished old trolley barn, with a series of winding hallways and about 80 stores, including the Hard Rock Cafe and an Old Spaghetti Factory.

What's left to argue - it's a typical split down party lines. They think the war's legit and I don't think it is. They say it is a matter of history, I say we are doomed to repeat history. What's it matter, you righties think you're right and we lefties think we're right. There's no right and wrong - there's just Democrats and Republicans.

You can post your pro-war blabberings and I'll post my anti-war blabberings. What's the point of arguing when all it is is pointless name calling?

Most of the pointless name calling comes from you.

That discussion (Mon. night) was really more about you being caught up in this inane ideological whirlpool. Who cares what MSNBC's ratings are, or what their prime-time line up is?

I asked my original question because you, vrai and Pete were going back and forth. Then vrai laid down a pretty decent post and you walked away.

Why engage the discussion if you won't finish it?

Maybe they won't bring it to light because it is not pertinent.

We currently don't know one way or the other. If they find notebooks and e-mails, etc. wherein he stated he felt a religious motivation to do this then the fact can be incorporated justifiably.

But assuming such does not help the case or those involved.

See how many newspapers or how many radio or TV broadcasts identify this guy as a Muslim. Relevant? I think so.

What is the difference between Talovic and someone who would walk into a restaurant and detonate a bomb? The goal is the same. Kill people at random.
The difference is we do not know what Talovic's motivation was. The only motivation offered by that report is:
... [Talovic] was from the war-torn country of Bosnia and that the trauma he experienced while growing up may have led to him snapping for some reason.
And that is speculation at this point.

You are seeing similarities (Muslim... guns...) and speaking definites (his religion compelled him to kill people, just like Mid-East suicide bombers), and that is badly overstepping the facts of the case.

He could have been disturbed for any number of reasons... unrelated to his being Muslim.

If they find a giant bin Laden poster in his bedroom or terrorist websites bookmarked in his browser then you can associate him with the larger mass of terrorists.

a) He was such a nice boy.
b) He was a muslim.

And Mormons do this regularly???
Apparrently an old-fashioned Old Testament Tsunami wasn't able to wipe out enough of them.
God,...time to open up the second bowl, or sound the trumpet, or something because these stiffnecked people need another reminder.
:killingme Tsunami hit the wrong area. Needs to head a little further north - Iraq, Iran, Syria. Need a 7,000 foot tsunami. The strategic dropping of a couple of nukes into the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf might do the trick.
