In my travels today, I got to hang out with these incrediable babies at a wildlife rescue.
A few came right up to me, one I actually got a quick ( and blurred) photo.
The ones with the slit look in their eyes are very new babies and they still have their baby blue eyes.

Just blew my mind to sit here in the presence of these amazing babies.
(all orphans..momma either dead or well meaning person picked it up thnking it was all alone..)

If you don't believe in a God..go sit with these fawns, and you will believe!!

Thanks..... :howdy:

Cool pics, isn't a bad idea to have them close to us(humans) once they grow up they might try to get too close and might get hurt or killed?

No..right now they are basically in "feed me, I am a baby" mode.
They are just learning to run and figure out their hind legs...
They dont even know that there are deer,

Once they are eating on their own, they are soft released in an area with wild deer..and they learn from them how to fear humans, fight, find food, etc.

Believe me, all these babies we rescue, , rehab and later release are all very wild.
Once the reproductive hormones start kicking in..Look Out!!!
They want nothing to with you and are very dangerous.

But right now..the fawns are like any other oprhans..they need to be fed and cared for until they can do it themselves.

What harms the deer, is people feeding them in the wild..putting corn and salt licks out to bring them closer to the house to look at..that is when trouble starts, and to do that during the runt is really stupid!

They come up in our yard eating the azalia bushes in the back yard by the house, and the Weeping Higan Cherry Tree (that's only a year old) Bad Deer!

I might have to put a salt lick and corn back in the woods to keep them away from my plants! :lmao:

Oh, and they also like the snow ball bushes in the front yard.
