Feel free to stop eating grass and barfing all over my house. Seriously. If it's going to make you sick, stop eating it. And I know it's not lawn chemicals because those are long gone by now.

You have plenty of cat chow at your disposal, and there's no reason to eat what you find in the yard. I understand you must like it for some reason, so perhaps we need a 12 step program - sort of like an alcoholic who knows that booze is bad for him and makes him sick, yet can't stop with his addition.

I thought you were smarter than this, and clearly I was mistaken. The good news is that, in the event you should eat something potentially harmful, I won't have to rush you to the vet, as your stomach is self-pumping.

Love,
Mommy

Kiki can read the forums?

Of course. She's extremely intelligent. And like most geniuses, she's somewhat of a savant in that she can perform complicated tasks that defy the normal cat, but can't remember the simple and routine. Such as "don't eat grass because it makes me puke."

At least KiKi has a reason to puke (eating grass). Our Maddie barfs for no apparent reason! We swear she's bulemic. :ohwell:

I heard that cats will eat grass when they are sick.

grass can help a cat's digestive process by inducing regurgitation of undigested matter. For example, feral cats might nibble on grass blades between mouse snacks. From a cat's point of view a dead mouse is a fiddly thing, and it is impossible for the cat to septe fur and bones from the meat. Therefore the cat gulps down the entire mouse. Once the meat has been digested the hair and bones remain in the cat's stomach. Eating grass makes the cat vomit, and this brings the grass back up, now neatly wrapped around undigested mouse parts. This is probably safer for the cat than passing spiky little bones through its intestines, which might get punctured or blocked.

Nice thought, huh?

Well, I never see undigested mouse parts in her barf, which is a good thing :twitch: . It's just undigested cat chow plus grass. I've tried changing her food but she hurks anyway.

She eats like a vacuum cleaner, and I figure that's the problem. Because of her genius, she forgets that she lives in a house with food out all the time and she can eat as she pleases. She'll eat, then forget she's eaten. So I'll fill the bowl back up right after her meal, and she comes and snarfs it all down again.

Either that or she's just bulimic.
