Dear Martha: Shut up and take your lumps

Did anyone see the interview with Barbara Walters and Martha Stewart on "Good Morning America" this morning?

She was whining on and on about having to go to jail, but that she "wasn't afraid."

I'm sorry, but I have no compassion for her and honestly wish she would just STFU and take her lumps.

And you know what..........?

 The diva of America has still not, to this day, admitted any wrongdoing!

Somebody never told her she couldn't lie to government investigators and skate away from it all. Apparently, that has never occured to her either!

I can't prove it, the government can't prove it, but you know she was guilty of insider trading. She got a tip, got a call, however you want to describe it from her stockbroker that the FDA was not going to favorably review Imclone's cancer treatment medicine, and she dumped it!

In an ironic twist, the Imclone stock she dumped for $40,000 is now reportedly worth $350,000.

Her lawyers are appealing the sentence she recieved - the minimum allowed by law, and she's free until the appeal is back in court.

I hope the time interval allows the government to find some more information against her, so they can resentence her to a heftier punishment.

Only in America!

Why should she be different from anyone else who lies to government investigators?

Actually, wasn't her "lie" proclaiming her innocence?

Yes, that would be the kind of justice we WANT from the government - one that searches for dirt after the verdict when it didn't go our way, just so they can punish.

I read an article awhile ago about that Condoleezza Rice garbage going on that mentioned she had to swear an oath before testifying before the 9/11 commision because otherwise it could not be held against her if she lied.

I guess I find it a bit curious that you can lie before congress unless you swear an oath but a lie before some lowly investigator is a crime.

It looks more to me like the criminal justice system is trying to make it look as though their investigaiton was not a total waste of time and money.

Here is the article I was talking about.
