Deer coated with TICKS on ears!

checkingthenews

C'mon...Smile!
Spouse works at Indian Head and told me he sees one particular deer every single day and both the deer's ears are coated with ticks....it breaks his heart every time he sees it. Said so many ticks you can barely see it's ears. Can anyone be contacted or anything done to help this poor deer?

TIA

Maybe you can call either Tri-County Animal Shelter, or Public Safety(?) to see what can be done. Poor thing.....

I do not believe anything will be or can be done. DNR will not even let trained rehabbers deal with/handle adult deer. (There are only 5-6 deep permits issued to rehabbers to work with deer. The is one gal in Mechanicsville who has a permit. You might call her and see if there is any help available.

What about the Humane Society? Just a thought/prayer :frown:
I don't know but I would hope they could at least lead you in the correct direction, they even have classes about all kinds of deer.
I don't know how to sit by and watch something like that and I'm so sorry your husband has to see it

nobody really

I need a nap
you oughta see them at the power plant when they are roaming the fenced in area. covered with them, you can see them on the deer. egads. Nothing can be done, except to shoot them.

I saw somewhere that they were vacinating deer for lyme disease. Read it a while ago. I wish they would, i was covered in them after training one weekend. yikes.

If you were covered in deer, I really don't want to know what kind of training you were doing.

That's called nature. When man tries to intervene in nature we end up with bigger disasters. Just let it go on about it's business, leave it alone.
