In a bewildering overnight change of position, Donald Trump seems to have okayed plans for Senate Republicans to support a Democratic bid to reopen the non-immigration functions of the Department of Homeland Security, perhaps by the end of this week. This development came a day after Trump vetoed any deal with Democrats until such time as his doomed and toxic SAVE America Act cleared the Senate. Politico blandly reported the Trump U-turn without much of an explanation:

Gawd, you're such a tool.
I have a flight out of DCA coming up soon, so keeping an eye on wait times. I'm confused. Is this a lie? Taken right from the DCA website, I haven't seen a wait time greater than 25 minutes. Other airports have lines into the parking lot. Now I get that some airports like Atlanta are majot hubs and have far more traffic, but this just seems low....
I'm guessing DHS is keeping TSA staffed in metro DC airports so it has little effect on elected and govt officials/employees.
Have you seen the lines at BWI?
Not recently, but the Maryland sub Reddit had someone complaining about TSA-Pre not being staffed.

Sis came home from EU on Thursday. She said it took more than hour to get through customs.
I used MPC so it may took 15-20 minutes because they only had two windows open. And the CBP officer still asked the same questions that I answered online. The regular Customs line was looooong. I may check out Global Entry since I have one, maybe two, more trips to Finland in the future.
