A Democratic proposal would require schools to inform parents "at the first opportunity but in all cases within forty-eight hours of receiving a report alleging sexual misconduct or abuse by an agency employee, notify the parents or guardian of a child alleged to be the victim, target, or recipient of the misconduct or abuse."

Republicans say that weakens the provision in the Parental Bill of Rights which was approved by the legislature last year following a successful signature gathering campaign.

"House Democrats on the Education Committee voted against an amendment to House Bill 1296 that would have required school districts to immediately notify parents if a student is the victim of sexual misconduct by an employee," Washington State House Republicans wrote in a Facebook post that has been shared more than 1,100 times as of Tuesday.

So if anyone read the article the person proposing the change said “they aren’t aware of any times that the report of misconduct was delayed”.

You do understand why you might want to take a minute to investigate a report, right? I know all your kids are darling angels, but some aren’t.

So some teacher gives a child detention because they are being disruptive, the student then makes a false accusation and immediately the parents are notified and chaos breaks out.

Why the heck would ANYONE want to be a teacher??

The 48 hour rule has been in place for over 20 years according to the article , some politician wanted to make a name for themselves and put this ridiculous requirement in place after it’s gone viral and has made its way all the way to this forum on the other side of the country.

What is the law in Florida? It better be immediate, otherwise sounds like it’s a perverts paradise!
