My sense is that the criticism from those to Pelosi's left about giving Trump a win on the same day as announcing the impeachment articles, though expected, is misplaced. If those on the Right see it as dumb, then they're looking for it to be dumb without thinking it through.

Pelosi doing this is good persuasion (at least she hopes it is). Yes, it gives Trump a win, but it also answers some of the concerns less-left critics have had (especially independents). As in, "See, we can impeach and work on other business at the same time." And, "This may be a small win for Trump, but it is a big win for folks we hold dear - workers, etc."

Announcing USMCA before the impeachment announcement would take the wind out of the impact she hopes to have re: USMCA and announcing after the impeachment announcement would take the wind out of the impeachment. So, concurrently it is!

USMCA is Trump's baby. Democrats got some minor concessions that strengthen unions, which given the support Trump has with workers isn't a bad thing. Now he just needs to resolve the dispute in the china trade to coincide with the defeat of the impeachment folly.
