At what point did everyone start taking their kids to the dentist? My son will be 4 in February and I'm thinking it's about time but wasn't sure if I was jumping the gun or not? If not, anyone have any good suggestions for the Waldorf and surrounding areas for someone who's good with kids?

My daughter was 2 when I started taking her to the dentist. I just always thought that when they got teeth was when you started taking care of them - even though we were lucky to get through the appointments without a fit, she did need the fluoride treatments they give.

My daughter goes to the Pediatric Dentistry place (kind of across from the Amish market) and I like them a lot. My sis takes her kids to Dr. Heffner/Dr. Aguto on 925 and loves them. Dr. Heffner was my dentist when I was younger so I can vouch for them - they just don't take my insurance!

Children ususally start going to the dentist around their 2nd birthday. They go this early just to count their teeth, make sure every thing is ok and get a brief cleaning. I like Dr. J in Dunkirk but that is probably too far to travel.

We go to Juambeltz as well... If you ask him, he will tell you to bring them in as early as 9-12 months. My twins went for the 1st time when they were 18 months old and my oldest was about 2.

Dr Jay (Juambeltz) Is the BEST! Worth the drive! They are in Leonardtown too

Mine will have her first appointment soon; she just turned three. I would like to have taken her in even sooner, but wasn't sure how she would handle it. But I took her with me to my last appointment, and she loved it. Not fun for me, as she camped out on my belly to watch the cleaning, but since she seemed to think that the dentist was cool, I scheduled her appointment.

Agreed, 100%. I was afraid of the dentist as a child and to see my 4 year old twins and 5 year old LOVE the dentist says ALOT about the doctors and their staff.

My guys go the 1st week in December for their cleanings.

40..and never had a cavity......:diva:

29 :diva: I have strong teeth and Thing 2 has the same teeth. In great shape, strong and jammed like hell in his mouth. Poor Thing 1 wasn't so lucky, just shy of his 7th b-day he's had 3 cavities already, is missing (as in were never there and not apparent on x-rays) 2 teeth and the rest are way spread out in his mouth. They go to Neibauer in PF and I've had good luck with them and the kids like them.

29 never had a cavity, I quit working in the dental field a few years ago and I started taking my kids when they were 3, I saw too many kiddos get traumatized by parents that were too excited and camera happy.
