I can't tell if he was serious, although the article claims he has real money allocated for the effort.
I can hear the hue and cry "but there aren't any jobs for them out here in the Hamptons".

This is textbook Limousine Liberal stuff -

But it's not wrong. Put a few thousand illegals on Martha's Vineyard or the Hamptons or rich liberal neighborhoods and they will change their tune -

I think it's bullshit that the fed can just relocate illegal immigrants to a state without the Governor's authorization or even knowledge. "Here, you're our political opponent so we're going to dump a bunch of criminals and drug dealers in your state to **** it up, and then yell that the rise in crime and poverty is your fault."

I don't think they CAN - they keep claiming they're doing no such thing - they are just "reuniting them" with family.
If they were deliberately "dumping them" in the cities of political opponents, they would openly lie about it. They would claim they were legally able to do it.

I think it's interesting that border states like Texas have seen resurgence in crime along the border, where illegals have not moved on from. This is directly a problem created by the federal government, and you have a**holes like Newsom saying, hey, we don't have crime like they do in Texas.

This however is biting them in the ass - because those places along the border are heavily Hispanic - and they can see what the left is doing - turning THEIR homes into sh!tholes for political reasons - and they are starting to vote Republican.

I wonder if there is a Federal law that gives the authorization, and appropriation of monies, to transport illegal aliens, non-US citizens, to other areas within the union? If I remember correctly, the Federal government only has control, use, of those lands within its jurisdiction, such as those "Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings"? So where does the authorization/justification come from that allows them to dump illegal aliens anywhere in any given State? Unless there are some States in cahoots via back channels with the Federal government giving permission and allowing illegal aliens to be dumped in their State? But even that still does back to question 1.
