PGPD Detectives Arrest and Charge Suspects in Fatal Stabbing in Langley Park

Homicide Unit detectives have charged two suspects in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred on February 21, 2022. The suspects are 36-year-old Jesus Escobar-Sanchez of no fixed address and 26-year-old Douglas Gonzalez-Diaz of Hyattsville. Both are charged with fatally stabbing 21-year-old Cristian Mendoza-Ventura, in Langley Park.




On February 21, 2022, at approximately 11:15 pm, patrol officers were called to the 7300 block of 17th Avenue for a report of a stabbing. Once on scene, they discovered a Mendoza-Ventura suffering from multiple stab wounds to the body. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.



The preliminary investigation revealed the suspects and victim were known to each other and the stabbing occurred during a dispute.



Escobar -Sanchez and Gonzalez-Diaz are charged with first- and second-degree murder and additional charges. They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
