PGPD Detectives Arrest Suspect for Fatal Shooting in Temple Hills

The Homicide Unit identified and arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in Temple Hills in October. The suspect is 30-year-old Rudolph Powell III of Washington DC. He’s charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Romeo Franklin of District Heights.

On October 30, 2021, at approximately 4:30 am, officers responded to the 3800 block of 28th Avenue for a reported shooting. Once on scene, officers located Franklin outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed Powell and Franklin were known to each other. The fatal shooting stemmed from a dispute. Powell is charged with first and second degree murder, assault charges and other related charges. He is currently in custody in Washington, DC, pending extradition to Prince George’s County.
