PGPD Detectives Arrest Suspect for Fatal Shooting in Unincorporated District Heights

The Homicide Unit has arrested and charged 35-year-old Deandre Abbott of the 200 block of W Street in Washington, D.C. for the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Raphael Taper of District Heights.

On May 30, 2021, at approximately 11:50 am, patrol officers responded to the 7700 block of Marlboro Pike for a shooting. The victim was located outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.


The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim following a verbal dispute. The suspect and victim were known to each other. Abbott is charged with first and second degree murder, armed carjacking and related weapons charges.
