PGPD Detectives Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting in Lewisdale

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in Lewisdale in late August. The suspect is 29-year-old Rudis Alfaro of Laurel. He’s charged with shooting and killing 30-year-old Irvin Paredes of the Langley Park area.

On August 24, 2022, at approximately 9:15 pm, patrol officers were called to the 2300 block of University Boulevard for a shooting. The officers discovered Paredes in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed Alfaro and Paredes were known to each other. The suspect shot the victim during a dispute.

Alfaro is being charged with first and second degree murder and additional charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
